Post tab players?

I’m only just learning to play the guitar but gadgets that’ll help are a plus haha. I was reading an article on Harmony Central about a tab player that apparently is being launched in the fall. It’s called an i-tab, but I was just wondering if anyone else saw it and what your thoughts are? The company is saying that it’s the only device of it’s kind ’cause the tabs scroll on screen and are linked to a time signature in the software. I’m not sure if it’d be useful to have or not but I thought it was interesting nonetheless. You can go to the website it’s just http://www.i-tab.com.

Hi Dizzy,

Welcome to the site.

That iTab looks rather cool. Probably a bit expensive for me to justify, but I can see how it would be useful for beginners.

You know you can get software such as Guitar Pro (http://www.guitar-pro.com) and Power Tab (http://www.power-tab.net) which are similar things. You get hold of a special type of guitar tab that the software can read and it will play the song and highlight the notes that it plays.

Power Tab is free, and Guitar Pro has a trial download. I prefer the paid version of Guitar Pro because of the “Realistic Sound Engine” that emulates the actual sound of the instrument as opposed to a rubbish midi sound.

Give those a try - it may help you along the way.

Also, take a look through the lessons on this site (http://www.blind-summit.co.uk/category/guitar-lessons)

Have fun!
