As I am starting to create more videos for the site, I wanted to see what everone else encodes their videos to. I have a Panasonic HDC-SD9 full HD camcorder. I mainly use my Mac Mini to get the raw data from the camera (the PC still isn’t great with that). I have iMovie (I don’t think Final Cut will work on the Mini) and I have been using the MPEG4 H.264 export option at 1280×720px with a data rate of 4000kbps. The Audio is left as is. I set the keyframes to 60. The filesize is about 120MB for 4:30 mins of video.
I’m not that happy about the end quality given the filesize.
Can anyone recommend some good settings for nice crisp quality at a reasonable filesize?
