Basic Home Recording Setup

This article was inspired by Emily (Em)  and the fact that a lot of people are writing good material, but just not recording them. Many of you will have a computer, but little or no studio type software or hardware.

But don’t worry - this article will show you how to make the most of your home computer for recording. It is mainly the basics of setting up your gear - but we will cover a little basic recording towards the end.

Mercyful Fate - Into The Coven

This is the first of the "Learn To Play" articles where we look a little more in depth at a song, or a particular riff and will teach you how to play it, the sort of effects to use and explain the tab itself. I will kick this off with a look at Mercyful Fate’s "Into The Coven".

Ibanez GRX70 Respray

This is my version of a guitar re-spray, where I have added in my own tips as well as stressing some important points that Damo had covered in his article. Performing any alterations or modifications on your guitar can lead to serious and permanent damage. Before attempting anything, you should have a good knowledge of the electronics of your guitar, including an ability to solder wires and components.

Stunt Guitar Part 5 - Hot For Teacher

This is a classic intro that Ben just wanted to share with us all. The tapping in this intro is pretty demanding and requires a big stretch and some good strength in your little finger. The rapid descending notes require accuracy and legato technique. The only letup here is the main riff - but that again requires some good timing and palm muting! If you’re not put off thus far - give it a go!
