Finntroll is a folk metal band from Finland. They combine black metal and Finnish polka, called humppa. Although it is a Finnish band, Finntroll’s lyrics are in Swedish, because Swedish just sounds "damn trollish", according to the band’s first vocalist, Katla. 14th March 2007 at the Lowry Theatre, Salford. Not quite knowing what to expect as I walked into the Lyric Theatre at Salfords Lowry Theatre I was met by a huge array of people from all walks of life, from the obvious Seagal movie fans, to the middle aged couple who looked like they’d come to see a classical performance and walked through the wrong doors.

If you’re not familiar with the likes of the Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde, then your ears have been saved (or rather, have missed out on) a man capable of writing raw bowel ripping riffs and pinch harmonic laden solos. He then contrasts this with some lighter ballad tracks featuring melodic vocals, piano backing and some guitar virtuosity. This is the 8th studio album from Black Label Society, and it’s a cracker.

Several months ago, I wrote an article discussing the basics of setting up a home studio for the first time. I gave quick rundown of the primary hardware such as a soundcard, cables, and the guitar setup. I also briefly mentioned some software packages that could be used on your computer to capture and edit your music. This article is the first of several to help get you get started with a few recording packages. Today we are going to look at Audacity.
