Motörhead - Kiss of Death
Kiss of Death is Motörhead’s 19th studio album due to be released on the 29th August. Motörhead need little introduction as they have been powering out heavy rock since 1977 with their self titled album.
Motörhead had huge hits with “Ace of Spades” and “Iron Fist” and continued to release solid hits until the late 1980’s where the band tailed off a bit. After various lineup changes, they (in 1995) settled with the so called “classic” lineup of Lemmy Kilmister (bass, vocals), Phil Campbell (guitar) and Mikkey Dee (drums).
The latest album, “Kiss of Death” is a real turnaround. This is a no-nonsense, non-flashy ass kicker of an album.
“Sucker” opens the album with a squealing guitar and then kicks into some raw riffs. Phil Campbell has a hot wah soaked solo. “One Night Stand” is a dirty as it sounds - really superb guitar riffs throughout and a cool solo.

“God Was Never On Your Side” starts with an acoustic intro dotted with some tasty electric embellishments. The song then opens up into an excuse to pull out a lighter and really get in touch. This is another exceptional track. The solo would make Zakk Wyle proud - twinged with pinched harmonics and finishing with a huge high bend.
“Kingdom of the Worm” is a dark and heavy track with a dirty bass intro and a heavily distorted vocal “yeeaah”. The track just continues with some unrepenting guitar riffs, and rock solid drumming. “Christine” is another cracking (I just can’t say a bad word about this album!) track - really bluesy with some wicked fills and yet anther hot solo.
This is an essential album for anyone, and fans of the band - this is a must have. Not a bad or duff track on the album. Motörhead have produced something special here. The Import version of the CD has 2 extra tracks “Trigger” and “Ramones”.
